How Are You Still Single?

With your smile like a thousand suns and your cute laugh and your sloshy raven hair. With your effervescent cheerfulness and your perseverance and your sense of humor. With your kindness to everyone and how good you are with kids. With your efficiency and your willingness to serve. How are you still single? You deserve someone who will follow you to the ends of the earth, who will go to the mission field with you. Someone who will make you feel important.

With your shy smile and your big laugh and your sometimes purple, sometimes red, sometimes black hair. With your faithfulness to detail and your desire for everything to work out well. With your tenderness and your compassion. With your heart of people. How are you still single? You deserve someone who will take care of you, who will protect you. Someone who will make you feel safe.

With your dimpled smile and your elusive laugh and your dark gold hair. With your willingness to be there, even for strangers, and with your desire for others to see the good in themselves, even though you can’t see the good in yourself. With your beautiful words, always in the perfect order for every situation. With your resolve to be good and your determination to be fine. How are you still single? You deserve someone who will make you cinnamon toast in the middle of the night, who will play with your hair every night before bed, who will cuddle you when you’re hurting. Someone who will make you feel loved.

Can I be honest? There’s a tiny part of me that’s perversely happy that you’re still single. Because if such wonderful people get overlooked, how can I feel badly about myself?

  1. Not at all sure why I managed to find someone to put up with me, but I think sometimes it’s just lucky chance that we bump into the right person, which means many wonderful people end up waiting longer than you’d expect.

I love the sentiment and honestly in your post :). Don’t feel bad about yourself – you are not overlooked, you are clearly a talented individual to be valued for yourself :). Mir xx
