#YouKnowYouAreAWriterWhen…

…you spend your entire shower wondering whether the edge of a floating city would be for the poor people or the rich people. Like, is it desired because of the great view, or is it avoided because it’s so close to the drop? Follow up questions included:

Would the tenements for the factory workers be around the edge of the island, thus forming a protective wall around the rich? Or would they be clustered in the middle where they can be ignored?

Would there even be tenements? What kind of infrastructure does a floating island have? Are there just massive storm drains for every kind of waste? Do they burn their trash? Maybe every house has a tiny incinerator and the kids don’t have to take out the trash.

…I’m weird. But, hey. I got some world building in.

  1. I can relate. The shower is where some of my best thinking is done.
